The Federal Road Safety Commission unit Zaira, Kaduna has
revealed that it arrested a 50 year old man who specialises in re-
threading old tires. The commander of the unit said the man who's name
is Mohammed Tudunwada has his factory located in the Tudun Wada area
of zaria.
Mohammed confessed he had being doing the business which his
father before him did. He said the business was transferred to him by
his father, and its the main source of survival for the family and
that his has no regrets doing it. He also added that he saw it as
strictly business, and not as a crime.
Items that were confiscated during the raid on Mohammed's shop
include: a power generator, two threading machines and a variety of
threading tools.
The FRSC confirmed that drivers in the area prefare patronising re-
threaded tires, not minding the hazards to human life. A threaded tire
costs between 500 and 800 naira in Zaria. While a new one costs
between 5000 and 8000 naira.
